Cadiac, an iOS and Android loyalty app
Under contract · Mediapilote● Live
The iOS and Android app for the Cadiac stores in Caen and Bayeux, built with Expo and React Native: loyalty card, new arrivals, stores and push notifications.
Context
Cadiac, a retailer with stores in Caen and Bayeux, wanted a mobile app that extended its website: a digital loyalty card, new product arrivals, store pages and notifications.
The app is built on HappyFid 2, Mediapilote’s white-label app solution: the client’s WordPress site acts as both back office and API. Scoping started with a written art direction and API contract.
Challenge
The app had to speak like the website: same headings, same logic of arrival waves, same loyalty card. Any visual gap showed immediately, on iOS as on Android.
The store team also had to stay autonomous. Editing a text, posting an alert or sending a notification should not require a developer.
Approach
I built the app with Expo and React Native in strict TypeScript, with a typed HTTP client for the HappyFid v2 API: JWTs in expo-secure-store, proactive refresh, a bootstrap payload cached and revalidated with ETags, and TanStack Query hooks. The tab bar is native on each platform (glass effect on iOS, Material 3 on Android) and dark mode is complete.
The home screen mirrors the website’s arrival waves, with product favourites, store pages and a MapLibre map on Android. App texts can be edited in place from the WordPress back office, and notifications go through Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging, with groups the user picks in My account. I finished with the store listing visuals and the production builds for the App Store and Google Play.
