(00) — In short

Visioavenue, a Symfony video consultation platform where dietitians and psychologists offer appointments, live sessions and talks, paid via Stripe.

Context

Visioavenue is a video consultation platform: consultants, including dietitians and psychologists, offer video appointments, live sessions and talks that customers book and pay for online. The application runs on Symfony, with a WordPress site for the public pages and the shop.

I worked on this product across two work-study placements. In 2022-2023, at Mediapilote, the scope first had to be defined with the team: who books appointments, who can access which record, and how a consultation runs from start to finish. In 2023-2024, I joined the Visioavenue development team, on a codebase already in production, to evolve the application and the site sprint after sprint.

Challenge

Two requirements pulled in opposite directions. The back end had to be reliable for appointments, records and calls, with no information lost, while the interface had to stay clear for patients who are often not comfortable with digital tools. The patient and consultant journeys also had to live side by side in the same product without one complicating the other.

The platform combined many formats as well: consultations, paid or free live sessions, talks, group offers, subscriptions with instalments, promo codes. Every change touched orders, invoicing and emails at once. Healthcare professionals also came with their own rules, such as a mandatory RPPS number for some professions, printed on invoices, or admin approval of profile changes.

Approach

At Mediapilote, I co-wrote the specification with the team, then produced the Figma mockups, validated before each iteration: the patient and consultant journeys were settled on mockups, not in production. On the technical side, Symfony carries the business logic (appointments, accounts, records), Node.js handles the real-time part of the calls and React serves the interfaces, on a MySQL database.

At Visioavenue, on the Symfony and Twig side, I worked on the Stripe checkout (promo codes, subscription instalments, payment method screen), email appointment reminders, blocking slots that are too close, order and profile logs, and an admin panel for offers. I also added real-time notifications through the Node.js and Socket.io server, in the back office and on mobile.

On the WordPress site, I reworked the consultant page for desktop and mobile, the mobile cart, the shop and the email templates. My last tasks covered consultant groups, with administrators and sub-administrators holding permissions.
